★★✩✩

Going into the screening, there has been a lot of negative reviews and reactions to Life Itself it was a film I was thinking of missing, but after seeing someone I follow on Twitter say they liked it I thought it was best to give it a go and see it was like.

You know what, it isn’t that bad.

As a young New York couple goes from college romance to marriage and the birth of their first child, the unexpected twists of their journey create reverberations that echo over continents and through lifetimes in Life Itself in this multigenerational saga examines the perils and rewards of everyday life.

I’ve never seen director-writer Dan Fogelman’s incredibly successful and popular This Is Us. So seeing Life Itself the best way to describe it is a sadder version of Love Actually.

The film and Fogelman’s script is cheesy and there’s a lot of holes, like what the fuck happened to Bening’s character. It would’ve been nice to know as she goes through something massively traumatic.

As for the cast, I did see a lot of myself in Isaac’s character a lot and I’m not sure that’s a good thing or not, but he did well with what he’ll be given.

This goes towards the whole cast as it’s the likes of Isacc, Wilde, Cooke, Banderas and seeing for the first time Costa (despite being nominated for last year’s BAFTA EE Rising Star Award) and need to see Victoria and hopefully continues to more success.

I liked how the story was told being about who’s the hero/villain in their own story, it had humour (especially at the beginning), it had heart and found enjoyed the Banderas and Izzo the most.

I just watch we had more of Cooke because she’s barely in it.

This film isn’t anything special, it’s something to watch on a Sunday or rainy day.

Verdict

The cast is the reason why this film is watchable in which is a sadder version of Love Actually.
