Casting for Spider-Man: Homecoming is stepping up; following the news Donald Glover has joined the film this week, with Silicon Valley’s Martin Starr and Prometheus’ Logan Marshall-Green being the latest recruits to director Jon Watts new incarnation of our friendly neighbourhood Spidey.
Even though the plot of the film is being kept under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting Marshall-Green will be playing a
secondary villain opposite Michael Keaton, who THR are suggesting will be the
movie’s big bad (maybe The Vulture?).
As for Starr, Deadline’s report doesn’t state who he’ll be
playing, but if it’s anything like his Silicon Valley co-star TJ Miller’s role
in Deadpool get ready for some comical moments with Tom Holland’s young web-slinger.
What we do know of Homecoming is that the film will be
centred on Parker dealing with life in high school and fighting off threats.
The ever growing cast also includes Marisa Tomei, Robert
Downey Jr, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Michael Barbieri, Laura Harrier and Kenneth
Choi. It’ll be produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige, who Sony and Marvel have
a pact to share the character.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (I again hate the title of this film)
begins shooting this month and will be swinging into UK cinemas on July 7th.
