Yesterday (Monday 6th November) news come out that Disney is interested in buying 21st Century Fox.

CNBC broke the story that the two media companies and movie studio empires have been in on-off talks for weeks and Disney would own all of Fox’s movie and TV properties like X-Men, Kingsman, The Simpsons, Family Guy etc and the FX network that homes many of the proper shows like Simpsons, Fargo, Bobs Burgers.
Now Disney wouldn’t own everything with Fox keeping hold of FOX news and FOX sports and this makes sense as Disney has ABC and ESPN to broadcast their news and sports.
The two sides AREN’T talking at this moment, but if you want to know more about the business then I’ll embed CNBC’s video below.
I’m going to focus on entertainment side as this is what I know more and I can honestly say this is fucking terrifying.
Yes, sure, if you’re a fan of the Marvel films and the MCU then you have the X-Men and Fantastic Four possibly in the same universe. However, if that’s the case forget having R-rated movies like Deadpool and Logan ever again because Disney would never do adult movies but who cares as long you can have that Deadpool/Spider-Man film.

Don’t forget when you’re fanboying, Fox is doing something amazing with their Marvel/X-Men movies with producing and making different genres within the superhero genre with the likes of Logan (futuristic western), Deadpool (comedy), New Mutants (horror) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (maybe sci-fi) plus a possibility of having a Logan sequel with X-23.
In 2018, Fox will be realising three X-Men movies – New Mutants, Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. If the deal happens you can forget about getting multiple movies, you’ll be lucky with one movie every two/three years.
The one Fox/Marvel movie that’ll benefit will be Fantastic Four as I do think Marvel and Kevin Feige should handle that property as Fox has failed four times – Roger Corman’s 1994 film that never saw the light of day, the two Tim Story movies and we can never forget Josh Trunk’s version.
Moving away from just their Marvel properties, Fox has many franchises Apes (which has one of the best modern-day trilogies), Die Hard, Kingsman, Alien and Predator. Recently, Murder on the Orient Express was released and if it does well it could be a franchise that’ll likely be lost.
The reason why I’m scared is because it’d mean losing Fox Searchlight, Fox’s sister studio, and they’ve produced/released a number of popular low-budget indie classic and awards winners.

This year Battle of the Sexes, The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri are all Oscar contenders.

All of this would be gone, you’ll have fewer movies to see. Creative people and writers will have lost two studios to pitch their ideas too and maybe not having their film made. Granted it’d be 50/50 to be a good film but that’s still a chance.
On the other hand, Disney would kill it with the family-friendly films like Home Alone, Doctor Dolittle, Night at the Museum, Miss Doubtfire and more. Then you have the Avatar movies and Disney will finally own the rights to the original and prequel Star Wars trilogies.
Elsewhere, let’s look at the TV because Family Guy, American Dad, Bobs Burgers, Fargo, Legion, Atlanta and the new R–rated animated Deadpool series will have to find a new home as they don’t fit in the family-friendly ethics of ABC and Freeform. Plus, Gotham will be back on a Time Warner studio maybe HBO.
Disney will also be looking at the UK and other major European territories with BSkyB. Which is home to one of the largest sporting channels Sky Sports and with the mouse house money they could easily buy every football rights from Premier League to Champions League.
Furthermore, you have the human side a large number of people (maybe 90%) who works in the entertainment side at 20th Century Fox would lose their jobs.
Finally, it's just too much to lose just so the fans could have the chance to see the X-Men in MCU and go to battle with the Avengers.
