Quentin Tarantino's Star Trek Movie Will Be R-Rated
Earlier this week, it was revealed Quentin Tarantino pitched his idea for a Star Trek movie and it seems like both Paramount and J.J Abrams are interested and have moved forward.
Deadline is reporting that the family-friendly series, which the films are based on, will be taking a more adult film as Tarantino’s Star Trek will be R-rated. Because why the fuck not!
Both Tarantino had Abrams have met with potential writers for this terrible idea and they included Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), Lindsey Beer (Barbie) and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) during this week with Smith being seen has the possible contender.
The US trade goes on to add that the plan is for a screenwriter to be picked soon and begin work the R-rated screenplay. Meanwhile, Tarantino will return to direct his Charles Manson film and if all goes well will return to Star Trek.
Paramount haven’t confirmed on the plot or on the filmmaker's involvement with the film, but Deadline does indicate a deal is getting close between the two parties.
I’m not a fan of Tarantino or his films and I don’t know why the idea of having an R-rated Star Trek would work because the past three movies haven’t interested the younger generation. If the studio thinks swearing, blood and sex will improve their demographic then they’ll be mistaken.
This move will only interest two sets of people, Trekkies who have hated the previous three Abrams films and want to see it return to its sci-fi home and Quentin Tarantino fans who roughly average in their 30s upwards.
It’s a shame because the assembled cast in this franchise is great, I’m just not interested in hearing Captain Kirk say motherfucker multiple times.
