Shazam! Has Found Its Wizard In This Is Us Star Ron Cephas Jones

It looks like Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has found his wizard.

The Wrap is reporting This Is Us star Ron Cephas Jones is in talks to possibly play the Wizard in the upcoming DCU film over at New Line Cinema.

The Wizard is the one who gives the superpowers of the geek gods to teenager Billy Batson (Asher Angel) which transforms him into the adult-size superhero Shazam! (Zachary Levi).

He’s also the one you gave powers to Shazam’s villain Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) though he won’t be appearing this film and is rumoured to have his own solo film.

Jones is set to join a cast that includes Mark Strong as the villain Doctor Sivana with Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Ian Chen, Jovan Armed, Cooper Andrews and Faithe Herman rounding off.

After the report and I saw his face I knew I’ve seen Jones in something else as I haven’t watched This Is Us then it clicked in my head he was recently in Marvel/Netflix’s Luke Cage.

Filming for Shazam! is set to begin in a couple of weeks in Toronto.

Shazam! is set to be making its way to cinemas on April 5, 2019.
