Directed By – John Francis Daley; Jonathan Goldstein
Starring – Jason Bateman; Rachel McAdams; Kyle Chandler; Sharon Hogan; Lamorne Morris; Jesse Plemons; Kylie Bunbury; Billy Magnussen.
After making over triple its $37 million dollar budget, Game Night was easily a massive success for Warner Bros and New Line and if missed out the first time you can now own the action-comedy on DVD and Blu-ray.
Game Night follows Max (Bateman) and Annie (McAdams) host weekly couples game nights and they go up a notch when Brooks (Chandler), Max’s charismatic brother, arranges a murder mystery party, including fake thugs and faux federal agents. When Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game…right? However, when the six-uber competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they quickly discover this isn’t the game its supposed to be.

It’s a shame to say that after rewatching and rereading my review, I still stand by a lot I previously said. Game Night is still highly entertaining with dark comedic laughs. However. If you compare to Warner Bros latest comedic release, Tag, Daily and Goldstein could’ve brought a little bit more out of the comedic abilities of Batman, McAdams and Morris.
Despite this, the directing duo did get out a brilliant standout performance from Plemons as the unsettling next door neighbour. Batman and McAdams are solid then with Morris and Magnussen you could have bright cinematic comedic actors.

Elsewhere, with Daley and Goldstein now helming The Flash for WB/DC Films, I won’t be surprised if we see members of this cast in the DCU film. In Morris and Bunbury you have brother and sister duo Leonard and Lisa Snort aka Captain Cold & Golden Glider. Meanwhile, Plemons and Chandler could make a decent Heat Wave (Mick Rory) with Magnussen is Weather Wizard.

This is not to say I want this Flash movie to be comedic and actually Game Night showcase what the superhero flick could be, a mixture of action with comedy thrown in. Furthermore, it’d be good to see Morris as this super cool badass villain.
As for the bonus features, you get a decent enough making of feature and who doesn’t like a gag reel!
Verdict
Game Night is funny and entertaining film to watch on a date night or with mates with a decent cast carrying this simple idea, but if you’re a DC fan then it looks like Flash is on good hands.
