Cast And Brief Synopsis For Joker Has Been Revealed

IMAGE VIA TODD PHILLIPS

Yesterday, I wrote about the first look of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur in the Joker movie but last night Warner Bros released a press release telling us that “principal photography” has begun for Todd Phillips DC movie.

The studio also announced a brief synopsis about the film saying “Joker centres around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”

This sounds awesome and exactly like the dark crime thriller we expect with the likes of Taxi Driver as inspiration.

Furthermore, we got the full cast reveal and the film will included, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen as replaced Alec Baldwin as Thomas Wayne, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham.

As stated above Cullen was revealed a few hours before this press release as Thomas Wayne by ComicBook.com.

The website went on to add “The Thomas Wayne fans will meet in Joker is not described as one aiming for fan-favouritism. Cullen’s version of the character is expected to be a less friendly iteration, playing a role in the Joker’s origin story one way or another.

“It will feature a very young Bruce Wayne, years before he put on a cape to become Batman” the site added.

As for the film itself, Phillips will be directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Silver and one of the surprising things is Bradley Cooper will be one of the movie's producers. So I wouldn’t be surprised if has a small role/cameo in the film similar to War Dogs.

Joker is set to hit cinemas worldwide on October 4, 2019.
