Meet Arthur, he’s the creepy looking man who’ll become Joker.
Last night, Todd Phillips revealed the first look at what Joaquin Phoenix’s character now we know is called Arthur in what could be the first arthouse comic book movie.
It was lucky that director Phillips got ahead of the images released from behind the scenes of the production giving fans their first real taste/idea of who this film will look like and upon first look, it’s incredibly exciting.
We’ve been told and I’ve been writing this Joker movie will be a crime thriller and amazingly we can get that thriller feel in just these images as Phoenix’s Arthur comes across as creepy and disturbing, especially around a clown.

These BTS images give us an idea that The Killing Joke had some influence as we see Arthur leaving a comedy talent agency as well these scenes taking place at Amusement Mile which is named after a carnival in Gotham City.
While Warner Bros and DC are being shouted at about how DC Films chief Walter Hamada and WB execs are handling the connected universe. These images highlight that the studio will be focusing on other one-off projects instead of their shared universe stuff.
As I said this could be the first ever arthouse comic book movie and the fact it’s been made of $55 million, this movie is going to be a profitable success.
I can’t wait for when that first trailer drops at next year’s San Diego Comic Con (because why not wait until then) and seeing the reactions on Twitter.
Finally, the stupidly talented Boss Logic showed what Phoenix could look like as the Joker.
