UPDATE - Short statement from a Warner Bros spokesperson - "While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we've always had great respect for a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged."
ANOTHER UPDATE - Last night things got weird as Henry Cavill posted a Instrgram video of himself in quite an awesome 'Krypton Lifting Team' tee not saying a word.
Talk about breaking the internet as Cavill and Superman was the two top trending subjects on Twitter worldwide for hours.
It’s happened, we didn’t want it to but Henry Cavill and Warner Bros are parting ways from being Superman in the DCU.ANOTHER UPDATE - Last night things got weird as Henry Cavill posted a Instrgram video of himself in quite an awesome 'Krypton Lifting Team' tee not saying a word.
Talk about breaking the internet as Cavill and Superman was the two top trending subjects on Twitter worldwide for hours.
This move cements the first of many big announcements in the coming months of how DC Films chief Walter Hamada sees the future of the DC Universe.
I would like to state before continuing I love Cavill as Superman, he's been the best Superman we're had and Man of Steel will follow Watchman in becoming an iconic masterpiece.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, talks broke down between Cavill’s people and the studio after he was going to cameo as the man of steel in the upcoming DC movie, Shazam! also stating “the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearance.”

Another factor for the failed Shazam! cameo deal is the infamous scheduling conflict and the fact he was just cast as the lead for the new Netflix series, Witcher should’ve been a massive red light.
Meanwhile, the studio moving towards Supergirl should’ve been the first warning signal as it seems Warner will be putting this film on a major fast track so I won’t be surprised if we hear news of a writer and director in the coming weeks.
As for the Last Son of Krypton, don’t expect a new solo adventure anytime soon as WB see him as James Bond with a new actor beginning a new era in the role.
As for the Englishman himself, he doesn’t need Superman anymore after the success of Mission: Impossible – Fallout and this leaves him open for him to take the James Bond role in either Bond 25 (if they move forward without Daniel Craig) or more likely Bond 26.
He’ll also be following Ben Affleck out of the DCU with Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa leading the way in the newly look DCU, which will be less connected, as they have Wonder Woman 1984 currently filming, The Flash is rumoured to start shooting in 2019 and Aquaman hit cinemas this December.

This also highlights for the meantime Warner does need Superman if you also add Birds of Prey, Batgirl, the aforementioned Supergirl and Matt Reeves’ Batman.
Elsewhere, if whatever this statement says we could have two potential actors waiting in the wings. The first would be Michael B. Jordan and the next and possible my favourite choice for either James Bond and Clark Kent, Henry Golding.
However, this could all go to shit after Henry Cavill’s manager tweeted this.
Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today.— Dany Garcia (@DanyGarciaCo) 12 September 2018
