Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn Has Found Her Black Canary & Huntress

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn has found her Birds of Prey.

Following on from last week’s shortlist of actresses up for the roles of Huntress and Black Canary, now Variety has revealed Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell have secured the roles of the DC heroes.

Winstead beat out the likes of Sofia Boutella, Cristin Miliot and Margaret Qualley for the role of Huntress aka Helena Bertinelli.

Meanwhile, the biggest surprise would be that Smollett-Bell also able to get the role of Black Canary aka Dinah Lance over the likes of bigger names such as Janelle Monae and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Still no word as to who has got the roles of Gotham City PD detective Renee Montoya and Cassandra Cain. So we’ll likely hear that news later on the week or next week.

As I said last week Winstead was my top choice and will be the top name actress alongside Robbie to help sell the film as well as being amazing in such films 10 Cloverfield Lane and Scott Pilgrim vs The World.

Which means relative unknown Smollett-Bell knocked the auditions out of the park especially to beat the likes of Mbatha-Raw and Monae and that only gets me more excited as to what she’ll do in the role.

Justin Kroll goes on to reveal in a tweet that Winstead's real life boyfriend Ewan McGregor and Sharlto Copley are up for the role of the film's villain, Black Mask.

Cathy Yan will be directing the film and it has been slated February 7, 2020 release date.
